    I could NOT find any information regarding this model on the Sony website, but here is the link that led me through the wild goose chase.

    LOL...yeah I think someone was having a laugh and used the model name DVP-S9000ES and changed it to DIVX-S9000ES.

    Especially after reading this: "Meanwhile, Sony has raised its influential voice in support of open DVD. According to a report in E-Town titled, "Sony Disses Divx," at a product showcase in Teaneck, New Jersey, on February 25, 1998, Sony DVD Marketing Vice President Mike Fidler stated: "We have no plans to market a Divx player and we fully support the open DVD platform," adding that Sony believes Divx will fail and that open DVD "better meets the needs of consumers."

    That statement, if accurate, most likely refers to the failed pay-per-view DVD system called Divx (small I, small V, small X) owned in part by Circuit City.

    Yes, I think you're right actually. But still as valzuniga wrote, Sony have nothing on their webpages about this product either.
