I've lately heard two comments that means something totally different in the USA. Each time, it appears to be British that say them.
In the UK........
"shitting themselves" = it appears this means somebody is overly excited, either from just being scared or laughing, or some other similar social situations
"taking a piss" or "a piss take" = it appears this means somebody is mocking you or teasing you, often used to describe the activities of comedians doing parodiesCan anybody verify this?In the USA........
"shitting themselves" = defecating in one's own pants, with feces in your clothes, or running down your leg
"taking a piss" = standing over the toilet or urinal and urinating

Taking the piss is when you mock someone else, or do something unbelievable that annoys someone else.
Shitting yourself - you're scared. Simple. -
im british and...lol no coments
lol
video cds super video cds converting video to dvd dvd recorders music, live music all things bionic!! -
How about this. In the U.S., if I said I was "pissed," people would think I was angry. In Britain, if I said I was "pissed," people would think I was drunk. I believe this is true but am not certain. This comes from the Monty Python "Philosopher's Song" where the world's great philosophers are described as being heavy drinkers ... and the one lyric line, "Socrates himself was permanently pissed."

Buddha says that, while he may show you the way, only you can truly save yourself, proving once and for all that he's a lazy, fat bastard. -
Shitting oneself can obviously be taken literally in either country. But it's used as a euphamism commonly in both countries, and I don't see any difference in meaning. As already stated it means to be scared or extremely stressed, or really to just be in any kind of extreme emotional state. The derivation seems pretty obvious to me too. You are so affected by...whatever.... that you could lose bowel control.
Lordsmurf you've never heard this term used in the States? I hear it all the time including on tv. -
I think here the phrase here is: nearly shit myself or I was shitting bricks.
His name was MackemX
What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend? -
How about this...

I'll put in another vote towards shit yourself=scared.
There's also "taken/taking a shit" = broken/breaking down
"We can't use my car. It took a shit the other day." -
In the US Pissing the night away often means you've had so much alcohol to drink you're spending the rest of the night standing over a urinal. I know in UK, Ireland, AUS, etc. Pissing the night away means getting drunk.
I've also heard from AUS, "get stuffed" and "snogging".
I think "to snog" is like kissing of some level. WTF? If a girl asked me if I wanted to snog I'd either hope she was talking about sex or think she was a druggie. -
They that give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty or safety.

"We can't use my car. It took a shit the other day."Cheers, Jim

strangely enough, here's one that's just been posted that also has a double meaning as we don't really use in the UK for something cool

Takes on a whole new meaning when you're the recipient of the action you instigated.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

I guess I was one of the 'lately comments' regarding shit
https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=1503454#1503454
but don't people involuntarily piss and shit themselves when really scared? I know dogs that have been mistreated piss n crap when they think they are going to be beaten. Don't they make fun of this action from people in movies etc when they are scared?
did anyone see the pilot episode of Futurama when Bender shits a brick. That is so hilarious that I nearly pissed myself :P
I've often asked people after I knew they had been shocked, did you shit yourself?
another phrase in the UK is 'Did you shit the bed?' which means why are you so early though I don't know it's origins -

Jackass the Movie but he wasn't scared
· A guy is forced to go a long period of time without using the restroom and then shits himself (literally) in the car before showing everyone the mess he has made. -

-No Holds Barred- didn't care for the movie, but when Hulk Hogan holds a little guy up in a threatening manner he asks, "What's that smell?"
The guy replys, "Dookie!"
even the dialog was lame, but it is a movie where a guy s**t himself, scared. -

I think that was an Adam Sandler-borrowed line from his other movie (Mr. Deeds?). He punches out an opera singer (guy) who say "I do believe I've shat myself."
