what formats should i use for converting from avi to dvd using tmpgenc?

for the video format, i can choose from:
    -NTSC
    -NTSC (low resolution)
    -NTSC (16:9).

for the audio format, i can choose from
    -CBR Linear PCM Audio
-CBR MPEG-1 Layer II Audio (MP2)
    -VBR Linear PCM Audio
-VBR MPEG-1 Layer II Audio (MP2).

i do not know which formats to choose. obviously, i want the dvd to be able to play on most dvd players. do i use information related to the avi file to choose the formats? i am lost here.. someone please help me.

Depending on whether your video content is wide screen aspect ratio or not, choose NTSC or NTSC (16:9, i.e. Wide Screen).

As for audio, almost NEVER use VBR, and MP2 saves space compared to PCM. Unless you are encoding serious music video, stick with MP2, as PCM takes up a lot more space and may not provide appreciable increase in sound quality.
