I shoot with my digital camera for some short videos. The format is .mov. But the files is very big. I want to convert the format and get some small size files. Is there any good software i could use?
One of my friends used a camcorder and the created file format is .vob. I want to reduce the file size, too. Which format should be good for archiving? Any suggestion is welcome.

    Thanks.

Depends on what you want to do with it:

If you want to burn to DVD and watch it on any old DVD player you'll need to use MPEG1 or MPEG2.

If you want a very small size and something that you can email to people and be sure they can watch it, WMV.

If you want small file size and compatability with set-top Divx/DVD players use AVI with Divx or Xvid (MPEG 4 part 2 compression).

If you want even smaller files, aren't worried about how long it will take to compress, and limited playback options, MP4 with H.264 (MPEG4 part 10, AVC) compression.

    Thanks, jagabo.
I found the tool to convert .mov to .wmv.
But there isn't a tool about converting .vob to .wmv in "How to Convert".
    I'll search it from google.
