  1. I'm not sure if this is a known problem in Vegas or not, I searched the fori for this but couldn't find a similar post. My problem is the following:

In Vegas 6.0, I finished syncing up the audio with the video on the timeline by increasing/decreasing the video speed or by sliding the video/audio on the timeline. Everything looks perfect in the preview, then I save and render the project but the result is still out of sync, and when I go back to the Vegas timeline and play the content, it's out of sync again and I have to change certain parts back to how they were before I made the changes in order to make audio and video sync up again. Then I render it the second time and it works.

I'm already using the draft (auto) preview to prevent any lagging when previewing the project. Am I doing anything wrong?

Was the audio and video synced when you captured it? Did you lose sync after editing? When editing video, I make sure that the video and audio are locked together first.

  3. I didn't capture the clips. These are web based xvid/divx files, they play just fine on a player with audio/video in sync, but when imported into Vegas they are out of sync. To correct that I have to increase (most of the time) the speed by usually +0.004 to sync up the audio, when previewing it.

It's possible that I edited/cropped (but not moved obviously!) the video/audio events on the timline after the sync-correction without grouping audio and video together. You think it's possible that this causes the sync problems?

I will try to group everything before rendering in the future, perhaps it helps.

Others have posted that Vegas and Adobe are not the proper tools for working with XVID or DIVX files. Try looking in the tools section for software designed for use with those type of files.

Manual audio sync is highly labor intensive. Better to investigate why the video is running at a different rate than audio. This isn't Vegas problem. Vegas is doing what you asked it to do.

xvid/divx files are often reduced to 23.976 framerates for compression efficiency. Did you check that in GSpot? Did you tell Vegas this was a 24p project?

Is the audio VBR MP3 and did you convert it to uncompressed PCM before trying to sync it ?
