Mother upset over porn in brand new DVD player

3/30/06 - KTRK/CLEVELAND, TX) - A Cleveland area mother is outraged and offended after getting more than what she paid for at a local Wal-Mart store.

Shelley Bettis say she's now forced to answer questions she was not ready to answer because her children saw things they were too young to see. She bought a DVD player, but also got pornography.

Bettis and her three children just wanted to watch Bambi II Tuesday afternoon, but before Shelley could load the DVD in the new Apex player she had just bought, something else popped up on the screen, and it was a far cry from Bambi.

"I don't even want to tell you what I saw," said Bettis.

Already inside the player, Shelly says, was a DVD. The label was so graphic that we can't even show it to you. The material on it is pornography.

"I was floored," she said. "I felt my heart hit the ground that my children had to see that. I was disgusted."

All three of her children, the youngest just eight years old, saw the first few seconds of the DVD before Shelley lunged for the player to turn it off. Thirteen-year-old Taylor watched sex acts she didn't even know about.

"It's very gross," said Taylor. "I saw body parts I've never seen before."

Shelley bought the $34 player at a Cleveland Wal-Mart and says the box it came in had not been tampered with.

In a statement, Wal-Mart apologizes and says, "We are thoroughly investigating the matter at this time."

No one at Apex, the manufacturer, returned our calls.

In a home where the focus is on faith and morals, the wrong purchase, Bettis says, stole her children's innocence.

"For them to see what they seen, it's not right," she said.

Wal-Mart encourages Shelley to return the DVD player to the store for a full refund. In the meantime, Bettis is now exploring her legal options and also plans to have her daughters see a counselor.

Watch this, Wal-mart runs an investigation through to the manufacturer and they find this was a plant by the consumer to get money using morals as her cover to make people think it was not her.

I hope my thought there is just what it is, A FABRICATED THOUGHT. However, there have been so many scams going on lately you can never know. There are also times where a unit doesn't look to be tampered with, but was a store return that was sealed pretty well. Happens all the time. SOmeone may have just forgotten to take their DVD out.

Even worse yet, that's the manufacturer's test disc. [searching online for APEX employment opportunities]

Cleveland (population under 8,000) appears to be a little backwater redneck shithole town near Houston, one of the religious/conservative capitals of the South.

The most disturbing thing I see in this article is the comment of "I saw body parts I've never seen before." Who is 13 and not taken science or health classes?

On the other hand, I bet she could name you 5 different type of guns, and how many body parts could be blown away with one round.

    Sex evil, violence not important.

And as far as "the box it came in had not been tampered with", yeah whatever. Unless they're now importing American porn into China, for the purpose of testing DVD players, sounds like bullshit to me.

Blah, blah, blah... innocence stolen....blah, blah, blah...parts of the body I've never seen.

You know what? If that is the worst thing that ever happens to those kids (aside from having such tight ass conservative for a mother), I would say they were awfully lucky. Chances are, that's not the worst thing they'll be confronted with.

    God I hate people.

I don't know if this thread just went political or religious....or anti-religious or right wing political......

Don't get a counselor for your kids, woman. Counseling is just gonna get that girl pregnant in the next 2 years. Scare the s**t out of your kids by making them watch the whole thing. They probably won't have sex until they're 35.
