I recently purchased an Oritron DVD810 at a yard sale for $10. It seemed like a good buy until my wife tried to play her Murder She Wrote discs and I found out the parental lock wouldn't allow them to play. I found a hack to reset the player back to factory defaults which seemed to work, except it appears that factory default for this player has the parental lock control set at 4, which still wouldn't allow many discs to play. Without the manual I was resigned to searching the internet for hours trying to find the default parental lock code for this player, with no luck. I tried the 800 customer service number on Oritron's site, hoping they could help. Don't bother. The number immediately answers with a message saying they are not accepting returns due to a company restructuring then asks you to wait for the next available operator. I don't know how long the wait for the next available operator is, but I know it is longer than an hour and 20 minutes, which is the point I hung up the phone. I tried sending an email to the address linked to on the Oritron website, only to find that their email address rejects any incoming messages. After wasting two days on this I was determined to unlock the player. I finally sat down and started punching in numbers, figuring the factory default had to be something stupidly simple that would be easy to remember. Finally, I hit upon the correct code to unlock the player - 2000. Everything about the player seems to be working fine now *keeping my fingers crossed* and I have to say that I'm thrilled to have found a region free hack for this player. Being a huge horror fan I've been surprised and saddened at the number of movies I remember fondly from 15-20 years ago released on region 2 dvd that have yet to surface on region 1 dvd. Needless to say having a region free player is now going to put a dent in my walletAnyway, I just wanted to post this here in the hopes that anybody else having the same problem can find this and not have to go through the hell I went through trying to unlock the player!
