How do i ensure smooth playback?

hi. i have an AVI file that is of this
size: 320*420
audio: 1536kbps/16bit/PCM
video: 25fps/24bit/uncompressed

i tried compressing the audio to 128kbps MP3 but it didn't work as well

but when i burned to a cd-rom in data format and tried to play it directly on the comp. the audio comes before the video. the video is rather slow. is there a reason why?
how can i improve the AVI file without installing any external codecs/filters?

Use 192 at least IMO. I know 128 usually sounds OK but 192 is my minimum.

What is your bitrate? If it's a high bitrate video it's not going to play. the CD player can't transfer the the data fast enough. You need to use a low bitrate video for that. Not sure what kind of bitrate you need for that.

Improve how? At best the quality can be slightly enhanced using denoise filters lightly, or adjusting the brightness and other such chracteristices but you can't imrpove it dramatically once it's in digital format. If it's from a anlog source such as VHS there is quite a few things that can be done before it gets converted to digital.

That is a very low resolution. If you try to view it full screen expect very average quality playback, and don't expect to improve it a great deal. Why is the video uncompressed avi ? I would be using Divx or Xvid or similar.
