    Hi all,

Hopefully this is the right place to post my first thread on the forums

I've been reading up on these forums about capturing and streaming audio and video using Windows Media Encoder. I've also found out that the card im using isnt supported for some reason. It's a Hauppage PVR-350.

My main question is which cards are definately known to work with WME so i can stream from an external source?

Answers or suggestions would be VERY VERY VERY grateful.

    Many thanks

    Just two questions.
Why do you say your PVR-350 is not supported?
How are you expecting to stream your video?

Windows Media Encoder 9 will usually detect tuners. Are you saying the PVR-350 doesn't show up? Or are you trying to stream from a file?

    Thanks for your replies

I tried to follow the guide posted on here by Baldwick but receive an error message whilst trying to start/preview the stream...

"Cannot find a valid output stream from the source.(0xC00D1B70)"

The only answers i find on Google say it is unsupported

    Any ideas?

Again, thanks for your time helping me.

Also, i'm trying to stream from an external source using the composite input. I've tried streaming from the internal tuner and s-video too. All with the same result.

I ideally need something thats going to be gauranteed to work with WME. Also, as i'll just be using the composite or s-video it will need to be of good quality too if possible.

I can only guarantee what I have and can observe. For high quality the Canopus ADVC or any camcorder with pass through works great. Also the older AIW cards. WDM tuners are supposed to work.

Can you watch video on the PC with WINTV2000?
If so then Windows is seeing your card.
I think what I understand is that you wish to capture video with the 350 and at the same time source the video stream to WME.
I have used Baldwick's guide for streaming vieo and it works fine. I am using baisically the same system you are. What I do is caputure the video to an AVI or MPG file then stream the file with WME

I've tried that method and it works but its not really practical as the saved MPG or AVI will be MASSSSSSSIVE. Looks like im going to have to source out a decent capture card which will stream without the messing around.
