Okay,
Well I'm having problems capturing avi with my ati aiw card. The files seem to be huge when trying to record them. I do all of my editing with adobe premiere 6.5 and using any mpeg file format just screws the whole editing process up. premiere just doesn't work well with mpeg files. I'm capping at standard dvd resolution. Is this what I should be doing?
And is it possible for me to capture strait from adobe premiere using my aiw card? I don't want to use IEEE 1394. Is there any other format that i should capture in? Well if you have any suggestions please tell me. Thanks in advance.

What are you trying to record? Are you transferring DV or are you capturing from the TV tuner or from composite or S-video inputs? If you are capturing through the tuner or the inputs, you could use picvideo mjpeg compression to capture your avi files. If you are transferring DV through your firewire, you are most likely stuck with the DV codec compression.
