i'm dropping an mp4 video into toast 7 for burning. the green bar indicating how much space is being used isn't full but when i go to burn toast tells me there's not enough disk space. haven't used it for ages and vaguely remember a shrink-to-disk function but can't find it. thanks

If Toast says there isn't enough disk (with a "k") space then it is referring to the amount of space available on the hard drive to write the temporary files. If it is disc (with a "c") then it won't fit the video to a DVD (which is unlikely with Toast 7 - the video would have to be more than 3 hours long). If it is with a "k" then clear up some hard drive space or use Toast Preferences to select an external drive for the Converted Items folder.

I also find that sometimes Toast thinks the source material won't fit on the DVD, when after processing it clearly would. I get around this by having Toast create a disc image (from the File menu), then burn that image to disc.
Acutally I do almost all my encoding to Disc Image -- that way the DVD drive isn't locked to the Toast application for the hours it takes to do the encoding.
