  1. i like using TSUNAMI MPEG DVD AUTHOR PRO, but it keep rejecting my dvd or svcd created from tmpgenc+ because of all the "dvd standards"

= is there a way i can make tsunami to ignore all the standards, i tried using the dvd patcher and it keep finding non standards from my svcd

= if tsunami won't accept my svcd or dvd and svcd2dvd or convertx2dvd accepts it, how will the author dvd from svcd2dvd or convertx2dvd play on a regular dvd

= is dvdlabpro as sensitive to standard as tsunami

Well one thing I can say is it won't let you make a svcd. Its not designed too. And even the programs that let you ignore dvd standards you must remember that it won't play perfectly on all dvd players. There's a standard for a reason. Now you could get a divx dvd player and do it with avi then it will be much more flexible but you're limited on what machines you can play it back on. But TDA is specifically designed for DVD's and they follow pretty strict rules. There's not too much you can do to get around that.

You could patch the header to try and fake TDA into thinking it is compliant. Have a look at DVD Patcher in the tools section. Again, there are no guarantees it will play in any given device, as it is not a DVD.

  4. Yes, DVD Lab Pro also insists upon DVD-compliant input.

Nero Vision and Womble Mpeg Video Wizard DVD will accept almost any video input and will recode to MPEG2 automatically for DVD output. However, in my opinion, the Womble recoding from compressed formats like DivX/XviD generally produces unacceptable results, and Nero Vision is very limited in its authoring options.

The thing to do, I think, is to recode your source to DVD-compliant MPG2 separately with a good encoder (TmpGENC/Tsunami is my personal choice), then use Tsunami DVD Author or DVD Lab for the authoring.

DVD Lab Pro has an option to allow non-compliant content if you need to use it. This option is specifically to allow svcd format material, or to allow the mixing of NTSC and PAL on a single disc. The option is found in the Project Settings dialogue.
