Is it possible to have Switchable Subtitles on a DVD using idx/sub files?

Because I've only found programs that require you to convert to srt, and you need to re-type alot the words. And these programs only work with english subtitles. What if I have subtitles in different languages?

Convert to sup with subtosup and author with a tool that supports sups like muxman, rejig.

Or convert to srt files and import all in an authoring tool that supports several languages like dvd-lab pro.

  3. Yeah, you'll need a separate SUP file for each language while the IDX/SUB files usually have all the languages in the one file. So, separate out the IDX/SUB files into their various languages using VobSubStrip, and then create a SUP file for each using, as Baldrick said, SubToSup, and author using Muxman, ReJig, or IFOEdit. Here's VobSubStrip:

    Thanks guys.

Which Authoring tool would you recommend out of the 3 you listed (Muxman, ReJig, and IFOEdit). I'm not sure which one to pick.

And do I just put my Xvid/Divx video into those programs, or do I need to convert to MPG first?

  5. Hi-

I prefer Muxman. It's real easy and good.

And do I just put my Xvid/Divx video into those programs, or do I need to convert to MPG first?

These are authoring apps, not encoders. You'll have to encode your AVI to DVD compliant MPEG-2 first.

Muxman and Rejig can't open the MPG file that I created from TMPGenc.

    What is wrong?

k, Thanks alot guys...i got everything to work.

I'm assuming no menu is created on the DVD.

  12. That's correct, those authoring apps don't create menus. If you want to put your new DVD back into the original DVD, retaining the original menu and perhaps some extras, then VobBlanker is the way to go. Afterwards you might have to "turn on" the new subs using PGCEdit.

Can i put more than 1 video on a DVD using Muxman?

  14. You can put as many as you like. Just "Add" them after the first one. They'll all wind up in the same VTS, though. Same with the audio, just "Add' the other audios after opening the first one. However, if there are audio delays involved, or the audio lengths aren't exactly the same as the video lengths, you may have synch problems. You may have to fix the audios using AC3 Delay Corrector.
