Question for anyone?

If this is in the wrong forum,i am very sorry.I have a question but didnt know where actually to put it.I have winrar and winzip,my question is,is there another program that is better or that can compress a file even smaller.I want ssomething that is really effective in compression,basically im askin because i want to compress files even smaller than the original size.


For example,I have the setup file for WinRAR,the original filesixe is 992kb,i compress it with wiinrar,i compress in rar format and at maximum compression,when it is done it is only 950kb.

Some say 7zip is capable of smaller files than most, but once you have compressed a file, smaller becomes a matter of degrees. It is also dependent on the nature of the file being compressed. A word document will compress a lot, mpeg4 video will compress very little. Keep your expectations realistic. You wont find something capable of compressing to 50% of these other apps.

Please use a more descriptive title that reflects your post content. "Question for anyone?" is not descriptive. You will get more responses this way and others will be able to search for your post subject if they have similar problems.

No offence but this is a pretty poor example, as most self-extracting EXEs or related setup / install packages are already heavily compressed.

Can you give an example more pertinent to what you want to achieve ?
