I have a Sony DCR-DVD91E handycam and I've three 1.4GB DVD-RW discs from my holiday. The problem is that I want to put these 3, 30 min discs onto 1 4.7GB disc, but as I'm a novice to the whole DVD burning thing, when I was recording these discs, for some reason I recorded one in video mode and the other two in VR (video recording) mode. This is where I have problems. The disc in video mode I can rip easily but the other 2 in VR mode won't, infact when I insert the discs instead of seeing the box 'what do you want windows to do', i recieve a window with 'files currently on the cd' containing a folder titled DVD-RTAV. I'm sorry I've gone on a bit but it's doing my head in and I've tried to give as much info as possble.
    Thanks

i think tmpgenc dvd author supports dvd-vr, and you can also join several dvds to one using it. use the add dvd-video in tda and select the dvd-video or dvd-rtav folder.

  3. I'll vouch for that - I often edit the results from my standalone DVD recorder that comes out in DVD-VR with TDA.

  4. or you can create an image of you DV-VR with CloneCD (yes it also does DVDs), and then burn to DVD-R...if you do not want to do any editing.

Hello again and thanks. TDA did ndeed work for me but alas ..I've encountered ANOTHER problem As I tried to rip my last DVD-RTAV I recieved this message
'The program is a mix of diferent video formats.
The video compression format [MPEG-1 and MPEG-2], resolution, and the aspect ratio [4:3 and16:9] need to be the same within the program.
I'm not sure what to do. Does anyone know the solution?

Make a new track in tda ( i think you find the new track at the bottom left) and you can mix different resolutions, aspect ratios.

or do you get this direct when you add the first dvd-rtav?

Whenever I go to 'add DVD video'and select DVD-RTAV, I get the 'ADD DVD-Video Wizard'. In this box there the program list containing 'program 1' which is 28mins. There is also a playlist 1 lasting 14mins. Normaly there is only a program 1. I don't sem to be able to activate 'add a new track' while this box is open, and if I try before I open, there is nothing I can mix.

Can anyone help with this? It's the only disc I cannot rip due to different aspect ratios and resolutions.[mpeg1, mpeg2 and 4:3,16:9]

If I understand the problem correctly, you need to add the new track first, then add the video to that track.
