  1. forgive my noobism here but...

if i were to backup a dvd that was was say a region2-copyrighted-disc using clonedvd and anydvd would the resulting dvdr be regionfree? or would it end up region-coded as well?

    thanks for any info/advice.

  5. yeah thats cool.

Just one more question, does clonedvd make an EXACT copy or does it actually re-encode the movie?

If it does, is there some other tool that would make an exact backup where there was no loss?

    thanks.

No Quality Loss....99% of the time....requires you purchasing a Dual Layer recordable DVDR...and of course a burner capable of burning them.
    Their reliability however is questionable.

  8. wouldnt that be assuming that the dvd to be copied was actually a dvd9 in the first place?

the dvd's that i want to copy are in this instance just dvd5's and i was wondering whether clonedvd would make an exact copy or would re-encode the movie slightly?

i know tools like dvdshrink are handy since they allow you to downsize the end-movie but in this case i would like to basically have a byte-for-byte copy.

So just rip an ISO with DVD Decrypter & burn it back.

    One tool, two clicks.

    Yes.
Most Hollywood movies are D/L nowadays....even though just the movie can fit on a single layer....they seem to enjoy cramming extra crap on there.

In that case(as noahtuck said)...DVDDecrypter would be a great candidate.
    ISO Read Mode
    ISO Write Mode
    .....done.
