i m pretty xperienced in computers but i never even tried to learn about ripping dvds etc. cuz i never felt the need. and now as i do i've done a lot of xperimentation but couldn't get to any perfect solution. currently what i want to know is:
    1. theres this dvd with 5 family videos and a menu at the very beginning where we can select the video to be played. now i needed just one from the 5 vids so i ripped it using dvddecrypter in IFO mode. i got one .vob file, one .ifo file and one stream information.txt file. now i want to burn this video back onto dvd to distribute to relatives but dont know how to. the vid [.vob file] is around 1-1.5 gb. i've already tried 2 methods from ur site, one using folder2iso[creating an iso and burnin with dvd decrypter's ISO write mode] and one where we have to put the .vob and .ifo file into a video_ts folder and burnin this folder along with an empty audio_ts folder using nero. both methods didnt work at all.

    2. i have this THE TERMINAL dvd thats slightly scratched causing it to work sort of like a slideshow in some places so i ripped it too using dvd decrypter's IFO mode and got 4 .vob files, one .ifo file and one stream information.txt file. i want to burn it back to dvd but again am having problems. idont need any menus just the movie. all the 6 files come to around 3.9gb.

    3. is it possible to create a fully-workin dvd by burning a .vob file ripped from dvd along with other video files in xvid or divx or any other format along with a menu to selct which video to play?

    4. i know this is a silly question, but what is the actual meaning of 'noob'?

i hope u guys dont mind my long post
    thanx in advance

#1 Re-author the VOB file you ripped. Burn the re-authored disc.

#2 Rip as ISO. Burn ISO. If larger than 4.38GB and you burn single layer media, shrink it with DVD Shrink.

    #3 No.

    1. Rip in file mode with DVd Decrypter, then run them through VOBBlanker. the DVD specification states that VOB files must not exceed 1GB each in size for them to be playable in a standalone DVD Player. When you say there are 5 videos, is all 5 on one dvd. if one is need then select only one, you can use dvd shrink in reauthor mode to keep the video you require and burn with dvd shrink as well.

    2. txt file is not needed (shouldnt be on the dvd in the first place). what DVD requires are the following:

IFO - needed as this contains all the information relating to the DVD, ie.e. chapters, etc.

BUP - BackUP of IFO file

VOB - the actual videos are contained within this.

Files need to be in VIDEO_TS folder in the root of the DVD. An empty AUDIO_TS folder is optional though not really needed, there is no harm in including one. I think its there for compatibility reasons for older generation dvd players.

Again, if you dont need any menus, rip with dvd decrypter, use DVD Shrink in reauthor mode to compress and buen back to DVD.

    3. As stated above, all files must be in VIDEO_TS folder. DVD Spefications require files to be as stated above. divx and xvid cannot be included along with VOB files for playback. However there are certain dvd players that can play divx/xvid files seperately. But it cannot be created within the VIDEO_TS folder.

    4. Noob actually means newbie.

EDIT: guess lordsmurf got there before me.

Playable on a PC, yes. Playable on a settop DVD player, not really. You'd need a divx/Xvid/raw MPEG capable player, and you will get the menu that the player provides.

I'd suggest that you check out https://www.videohelp.com/dvd#struct for help with 1 and 2.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  6. IFO mode is used when you want to demux the audio or edit the video, for copies use ISO or File mode.
BTW..."nOOb"is an insult when somebody does something stupid,"newbie"is an inexperienced person.
