Hi all, just wanted to see which of the two programs people prefer for editing/authoring DVD from DV camcorder. Im pretty new to editing and have bought both.. been using Pinnacle 10.5 and its been a huge upgrade from their 9 versions which was very buggy.. I havent installed Vegas 6 yet, thinking of doing so, but hestitant to learn new program. Is it easy to use like Pinnacle? Does it have the same type of features?

Vegas is a serious Pro-Sumer package that costs $450 without DVD Authoring and $650 with. It is not intended for beginners.

Pinnacle Studio is low end entry program that is very buggy and slow.

I suggest you return both and look at Premiere Elements, ULead Video Studio 9 or Sony Vegas Movie Studio as recommended starter programs. Each has a free downloadable demo.

  3. I didnt know anything about Vegas and just googled some tutorials and guides and i have slowly picked up what i needed to. I say stick with Vegas and do the same thing. Youll pick up the basics pretty quickly.

Vegas is a great program but it's like learning to drive in an eighteen wheeler. Many would benefit from mastering a consumer version first and save the money. Vegas 7 will be out ($199 more to upgrade) before you learn the basics.
