Normally I cap my VHS tapes with Virtual VCR and PIC MJpeg, encode tha AVI file with CCE Basic and I get a very good and clean DVD, but all this procedure it's a bit tedious and VERY HD space demanding, so I'd like to try some HW MPEG2 encoding card, for acquiring directly from the Sat STB. I would give a shot at the Hauppauge HVR-1300, but any other advice is welcome.

Checkout avermedia device's .
From my experience , having owned more than 12 different capture device's , the quality from the avermedia hardware is about the best you can get for the price .
Usb2 will alway's give best result's , but pci from this company isn't far behind .
You may also find their cheaper than hauppauge , and have better support as well . -
thanks for reply, here in Europe I found that Avermedia has poor support, it's very strong in Asia and Oceania but too weak here.
BTW could you point me to a specific model ?
