  1. Hi,

Newbie here with a strange problem that doesnt seem to fit any category.

Hi I used DVDShrink 3.2 to shrink the ISO file (unknown source/region) of a downloaded concert. The image was then burned. When looking at the DVD on the PC everything appears to be alright, when i put it in my home DVD players (Samsung ?? and Pioneer DVR-533H) the color is gone and it only is in B&W. The other strange thing is that there is only 1 "black bar" on the top of the screen as apposed to the normal 2 (top and bottom).

Is it a PAL NTSC thing?
    Is it a region thing?
    Is it a burn thing?

    Any ideas?

    cheers

    PAL/NTSC thing 8)

Check the resolution & fps to tell.
But that is usually a sign of a PAL format being played in an NTSC machine that can not convert it, seeing as you are also in NTSC land.

If PAL you are lucky your TV will lock to that B&W PAL source. Most won't.

Of course, a NTSC TV will not be able to detect PAL color. It just looks like high frequency luminance noise.

  4. Thanks for the replies.

Using IfoEdit i found that it is PAL >

    Video Manager Menu attributes: Video: MPEG-2 720x576 (PAL) (PAL 625/50) (16:9) (pan-scan & letterboxed)

Looking through the forums i've seen several PAL to NTSC conversions. I tried the simple patch.... with no success. The other conversion tutorials appear to use AVI or mpeg files. Is there a link i am missing? or should i convert to an AVI.... convert to NTSC and than back to DVD format?

Seems like a lot of work lol

Demux to mpeg and use dgpulldown to add 29.976 playback flags. If you look up dgpulldown in the Tools section you will find guides to show you how. Don't convert back to AVI, keep it mpeg.

  6. THanks,

Looked up the guide for dgpulldown, not so helpfull.
"This method will let you encode avi or mpg files "

I dont have mpg or avi files.

guns1inger wroted "Demux to mpeg and use dgpulldown to add 29.976 playback flags".

I am a little confused with my directions. Do I "demux to mpeg", or do i create the mpeg and then demux (audio - video) which creates the m2v files and then use dgpulldown.

I have used VOB2MPG to create mpg, but had problems demuxing.

I will try DVD-lab reauthor to demux and then dgpulldown... does this seem correct
