    I can see why... Huh??

I've been using myDVDedit to make backups that skip all the trailers, warnings, disclaimers, and such, and occasionally something odd happens. When I play the disk on my player, the time information is missing. Whatever it is that knows how long a track is and at what time I'm presently at stops knowing it. Also the jump-back-a-few-seconds feature jumps back to the beginning of the chapter instead. Otherwise the disk plays normally.

myDVDedit does not delete any media, it only affects the program codes on the disk. I've been meticulous to make sure that all System Registers continue to get the same values they're supposed to. In spite of that, the disk is somehow not giving the player the time info. Does anyone have any insight about DVD programming for when this info gets passed onto the player, and why changing the program sequences would affect this?

(I tried asking this a while ago at the myDVDedit forum, but my post was deleted instead of answered.) :/

First, I never saw your message in my forum, and so, of course, I never deleted it. The only message I deleted didnt have any relation with myDVDEdit, I have locked it with a comment and I have wait 2 weeks before delete it.

    To Answer your question.
myDVDEdit steel in development and many works have to do done. One of them il the TimeMap recalculation when a PGC have been changed.
If you move or delete a Cell, the timeMap have to be updated.
Most of the DVD players use the VOB informations to jump forward or backward, but some of them use the TimeMap. If your player use this table, it may be perturb by its content.

If you do not move or delete Cell/PGC, and you only change the Commands, you should not have any problem.

    Jerome,

I don't know what happened on your forum, but I won't rehash it, and I'm sorry if I seemed disparaging of your work. I think it's an excellent program.

myDVDedit doesn't delete cells, as far as I can tell, but if I understand you correctly, you're saying that the act of adding or removing a command in the pre- or post-commands shifts the placement of the video information on the DVD? And that affects some player's ability to know what timecode it's playing? That does make sense, so thanks for clearing that up.

When I put a DVD in the player and press Play, I prefer the movie to start up immediately, and give me the menu when it's over or if I press the Menu button. I think the Warner Brothers disks were like this a while ago. Your program makes it possible to do that. Please keep up the good work!

    Obsolutly not.
If you just change the commands, the playback information doesn't change, so you shoud not have any problem. The risk apear only if you move or delete a cell. If you cannot delete the cell from the DVD (from the VOB files), you can delete its use from a PGC (its reference in the IFO files).
