I didn't know BONO (U2) could play the guitar

I bought the VERTIGO Chicago tour dvd on Sunday. I bought the Vertigo album last year and liked it a lot.

I haven't watched all of it but I like what I've seen so far (I've been skipping to certain songs). I was suprised to see BONO play a guitar. I didn't know he could play. Obviously he's not a lead guitarist but he's good enough to play live

One quesition - does anyone know why he wears sunglasses all the time??? Is it just a signature like Michael Jacksons one glove? (sorry didn't mean to compare U2 to Michael Jackson in ANY WAY WHATSOEVER, it was just the first example I could come up with )

I saw Bobcat Goldwaith (SP) do a Bono impersonation once, it was great! I think that they actually get along or hung together or something at one time. About like John Belushi doing Joe Cocker. Pretty damn good!

Just because it seems like a lead singer only sings, doesn't mean they can't play other instruments. Look at Prince for example. The dude can play 25 different musical instruments but only plays guitar on stage. Flava Flav from Public Enemy just raps, but can also play several different instruments. Madonna can play the guitar.

In a band like U2, the sole guitar player is The Edge. If you look at the album liner notes it probably says, Guitars: The Edge. Why? Because The Edge is the guitar player. Now, sometimes certain songs require a second guitar in a live situation. You can do one of two things: either have the second guitar sampled or have the lead singer or a stage musician cover the part. It's not like Bono is going to leave U2 and start a new band where he plays lead guitar (Dave Grohl did it).

Some bands were better before the lead singer decided he/she wanted to play guitar all of the time.

Pearl Jam is number one the list.

Some bands have a guy that carries a guitar but never plays it live.

Brooks and Dunn: Kix Brooks is not playing one note from his guitar when he plays live. I've seen them. It's not there.

Yes, he played it here, yesterday night at the Morumbi Stadium in São Paulo. Tonight there's going to be another show and then they'll go to the State of Bahia - to go the beach.

I didn't mean he left Nirvana. Nirvana sort of... well... left him and Kris Novaselic.

Either way, he went on to start his own successful band as a guitar player/singer while Kris Novaselic sits on his ass just waiting for something to happen.

I usually sit on my a** on a toilet waiting for something to happen. When it happens I do the paperwork and move somewhere else to sit on my a** and wait for something to happen. When it does, I groan at my wife for kicking my a**. Then I go to the kitchen, get some food, and go back to the toilet to sit on my a** and wait for something to happen. Sounds boring, but its a functioning circle that I can live with. :P
