Hey, I don't really have any DVD9s, so I've been using Intervideo to shrink a 5.79 gig VIDEO_TS folder... anyways, I didn't do anything to it... I copied the entire disk, and, after I burned it, the video froze a lot, and the menus were really glitchy. Is this supposed to happen?

After watching it, I got suspicious and tried to view some of my older authored DVDs. However, 90% of those also freeze around in the DVD player. What's wrong? Is it the type of disk I'm using? (i.e. TEON DVD-R)?

Should I try it again with a different brand of DVD?

Teon makes some of the strongest thin jewel cases however their media leaves alot to be desired. I'd say your problem is with the media but since your backing up data and shrinking it less than 75% of it's original size that might also be at issue. My suggestion in cases of large shrinkage (less than 85%) is to use dual layer media. I also suggest using quality media for backups. Buy bargain media for data you know you don't want to keep forever.

    Thanks guys.

I tried the PLAYO DVD-R with a 4 gig ISO and the video came out just fine.... however, my excitement was short-lived.

I, once again, used Intervideo to shrink a 9.4 gig (whoa!) to a mere 4.3 gigs!
It was weird tho. I loaded it onto Intervideo and it displayed the output file size as 4.3 gigs, which meant I could select the "fit to one DVD" option. Anyways, I shrunk it, and burned it with Nero 7, and the video came out beautifully... actually, correction: half the video. Some of the menu options were glitchy and un-selectable, which meant I could only watch half the DVD... I think that my computer my have shut down in the middle of the shrinking process, so I might try it again...

    Any suggestions?

    Whoa... never mind guys.

I loaded the 7 gig (sry, I mis-posted it as a 9 gig) ISO into Intervideo again...
turns out Titles 11-18 are all of 00:00 length.

This means that there wasn't anything wrong with the shrinking process, it's the source file that's causing me problems.

I think I'll mess around with the ISO for a bit... see if I can correct the problem.

I didn't get the chance to try and shrink it again, but I did shrink the old 5 gig VIDEO_TS... turned out great!
