I have had this player for a few years and finally got a TV with component inputs. I have the DVD player hooked up via component and have flipped the switch on the back of the player from S-Video to Component. I have also checked the DVD players menu when the player has no disc but I still cannot find any way to make this thing output 480P.
My TV is a a Toshiba 56HM195 1080P model. It displays the video input signal on screen. (ie my xbox gives 480p or 720p and the TV's on screen display shows this, depending on the game I put in)
Any thoughts?? Or did I miss something in the DVD players menu.
Thanks, CanadianZ

I don't have that DVD player but there are two steps to 480p output. Analog component output can be interlace or progressive. It sounds like you have component video at the TV but haven't changed interlace to progressive.
The setting should be in the menus somewhere. Check the manual.

Yep , I guess you are right. I could have sworn it was a progressive sc an DVD player. I had my buddy sell it to me a few years back and he assured me it was. (I was a little bit naive to audio/video things at the time)
Damn, looks like I will have to just wait for the new oppo.
