I ripped POTA with smart ripper. Got all the files. Works
with software DVD player windvd. Tried encoding to VCD
using TMPGENC. The problem is with this DVD it has inlays
of the DIRECTOR and ACTORS giving a talk about making the
movie. Has anyone gotten around this. How do you get
rid of the inlayed video and audio.

hrm...did you rip planet of the apes under "movie mode" or "file mode" in smartripper?
"file mode" will not remove multi-angles. to get rid of them, u need to rip under "movie mode" -
I just ripped it today myself and i used EASYVCD to encode and only the end got messed up, but it was the credits so i didnt' care. I did it in SVCD mode because it looks much better i think. Only problem i had was getting the bin & cue to burn correctly

Thanks for the replies. I ripped the files instead of clicking the movie button in Smart Ripper. Encoding now.
Takes over 6 hours. -
vsparto,
make sure you check your work. you could have multi-angles in your rip.
