    This is my first time here, I'm not familiar with some of the abreviations in the guides so I'm not exactly sure.

    I have a DVD rom, I dont have a dvd burner
    I saw these initials on the site...DVDR - I'm guessing that means dvd rom?

    my question is, is it possible for me to rip a dvd movie, from just a dvd rom? If somebody can tell me what software I need thats great, or if you can point me to a link to where the guide is that explains that...I'll try to figure it out.

    dvd - r is not dvd-ram ... just a type of dvd burner system

    Answer to Q1: Look at the blue "What Is" Section on the left side of this website.

    Answer to Q2: Yes you can rip movies from a normal DVD-Rom, look for ripping software inside of the red "Tools" link that's on the left side of this website.
