  1. I was given a new program to try recently called " DivX to DVD converter ". I had no problem using this program but the end result is not good. I encoded an avi file & it produces a VOB file. Before I burned the VOB file to disc I tested the file. There is NO audio.

Can someone tell me where I have gone wrong please ?

    Thanks,

    MLOR.

Yes, you havn't read any of the many guides on this site

I don't know the tool you are referring to, but in general converting divx to DVD is full of pitfalls for the unwary. Once you have done it a few times and encountered the common issues you will be succesfull 95% of the time, but you will still find occasional files that cause problems.

I seriously reccomend going to the guides section, there are many guides for divx to DVD, using a variety of tools from freeware to expensive commercial programs. Do some reading and try a few things out but as a general rule, avaoid the 'all in one wonder' programs. These are the ones that frequently have a lot of problems.

I'll guess that DivxToDVD converted your audio to 2 ch AC3 and you haven't got an AC3 codec on your computer. Install AC3Filter, or play the VIDEO_TS folder "properly" in software such as PowerDVD.

DivxToDVD is actually IMHO one of the better apps for this task as far as all-in-ones go. Stay tuned for ConvertXToDVD
    If in doubt, Google it.
