  1. The Zen Vision: M will be mostly used as an MP3 player, but it is also a gift for a video producer who would like to show his work on a TV in the best quality possible. He would also like to carry some of his MCE 2005 Recorded TV shows to the lake cottage for TV use.

What converter is best for use with MCE 2005 (VideoVault, Nero 7, WMP 10/11, other)?

What is the best way to convert DVR-MS files to sync with Zen Vision: M for output to TV (ie 720/640x480, DivX, XviD, MP3, etc...)?

Is there a way to transfer shows like the Sopranos, Deadwood, Rome, etc... to the ZV:M?

(Waiting for a PMC version 2 is not an option, unless the release is in the next couple of weeks)

    Thanks!

    You forgot to mention that the zen vision supports: DivX™ 4 & 55, XviD5(???), MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG4-SP, WMV9, Motion-JPEG

Tmpgenc xpress support dvr-ms, output to wmv9 or divx, xvid.

and you have to compare xvid,divx,wmv...the quality depends on bitrate, resolution, source video, video player...

  3. Baldrick,

The ZV:M is a gift for my brother. He is a video producer and often gets DVDs of the shows he produces, but he might be able to get it in other formats as well. What would be the best file format and settings for the easiest and best quality transfer to ZV:M?

What exact settings would you use for a MCE 2005 Recorded TV DVR-MS file in TMPGENC Xpress for best ZV:M compatibility for output to TV? ( Comcast Digital Cable via S-video is the source)

    For example:
    XviD - 640x480-30fps, MP3 CBR 128kbps, Bitrate???, etc...

Would DivX or another format be better for ZV:M?

What about compatibility with other devices?

    Setup:
    2 Comcast/Motorola DCT2000 Digital Cable Boxes via S-video
    Xbox 360 via component 480p
    Dell XPS Gen 4
    Windows XP Media Center 2005
    P4 3.6ghz
    2GB RAM
    250GB HDD
    nVidia GeForce 6800 with 256mb
Emuzed Angel Dual TV Tuner via S-video
    Audigy 2 zs
    DVD-ROM
    DVD+/-RW

    Thanks!
