  1. Ave,

    Here's my problem.
I used Canopus ProCoder to convert my video files to NTSC 352 X 240 M2V files, so i could author them in TMPGEnc DVD Author. Unfortunately, i set the encoding to produce Interlace M2V's. When i loaded the files in TMPGEnc DVD Author, it gave me the bad news:

"Interlace mode cannot be used with a resolution of 352 x 240. The DVD-Video standard requires that video with a resolution of 352 x 240 must be in progressive mode. Interlace mode (such as 3:2 pulldown playback or inverse 3:2 pulldown) is not usable."

Now i need to convert my Interlaced M2V files to Progressive so that they can be loaded in DVD Author and authored for DVD.

Of course, i can re-encode the files in ProCoder or whatever and specify Progressive, but that would be a length time consuming process which i would like to avoid, if possible.

So basically what i'm looking for.... is there any possible way to convert these Interlaced M2V's to Progressive M2V's without re-encoding them? Is there a tool which could possibly do this without having to re-encode the files altogether?

    Thanks.

They are probably Progressive, but are flaged as Interlaced when encoded by Procoder. 240 lines is not enough to support Interlacing.

I don't know if it will work, but you might try changing the flag to Progressive with Restream. It won't rencode, just rewrite the Mpeg.

    Ave,

I downloaded the ReStream software you had advised and am looking at it. I'm not sure which switch to use to change the Flags from Interlace to Progressive. Honestly, it's looking a little too technical for me, but i think it might do the job. Do you know which box i may have to select to change the Flags from interlace to progressive?

    Thanks.

    Ave,

Nevermind! I figured it out... and it works!!
Thanks a bunch! This is exactly what i was looking for. ReStream simply changed the flags and didn't re-encode, just wrote the file as is with changed flags. Worked like a charm. TMPGEnc DVD Author is accepting the file now without problems.
