Now, when i was a kid my parents always used to lay down the "i work hard so you can eat - be greatful" stuff. i think it's fairly normal for parents to say stuff like that. thing is, do you post ho's say that to your kids with a straight face? i mean - working hard at being a ho doesn't count, does it? do you think your parents spent as much time standing round the watercooler talking shite, or is this just a lazier generation?

Generations are definitely getting lazier. But that is the way of technology.

Don't you think the generation before the wheel was invented, was bitching at the generation using the wheel..."you lazy kids today...when I young we had to carry with bare hands. We did not have fancy ass wheel to do it for us."

Technology...all technology...comes about by 2 ideals - there has to be a better way and there has to be an easier way.

When National Geographic goes deep into the Amazon and hangs out with a local tribe...you don't see very many over weight folks around there do you? You wouldn't be over weight either if you had to catch your own food. (The word "you" is used in the general sense, no flan specific)

  5. Hell -- I'll admit it !! I'm lazier than my parents and my kids are friggin lazier than me!! Northcat is right. As technology evolves the amount of "physical" and in sometimes "mental" effort diminish.

Here in the US, we are moving more and more to a "service" economy and labor intensive jobs such as industrial, textile, etc., seem to be on the wane with most going overseas.

As far as me telling my kids I work so hard ...

I do dammit and I never let them forget it. Hell the shit they take for granted doesn't just "auto-*******-magically" appear! I work hard so they can have it easier than I did!!

I want them to have it good so I can sponge off them when I get old and feeble !!

I'm glad you added that last line in there

Because...out of context of course :P ...you said "you don't work/produce and you get canned! :P " then you said "even if you work and produce you still get canned"

Now by my logic, if you produce once, that's called production...if you produce twice the second is called reproduction....and you are getting it in the can....I was wondering WTF It sounded like you had a job in a fudge packing plant and you were getting "canned" no matter what

I feel guilty sometimes because I have it so much easier than my dad did. But I think he wanted it that way.

Yes it was...but I am supremely bored today and tomorrow....teacher work days My exams are all given, grades turned in, I AM DONE, we are not allowed to leave early and not allowed to drink at school anymore (that's a bad inside joke, we had a teacher get caught drinking at school this year , they sent him to rehab, he was gone for like 6 weeks or something, he came back and in less than a week they caught him with Vodka in his coffee again...they fired him ) so now I'm just waiting on wednesday at 2:00 EST and I'm done until August 20 something. So my presence here at videohelp will be virtually non-existent here shortly

Well as many of you know I am a teacher. But I am also a coach. I coach football. My son (17) plays baseball for a traveling team during the summer. They have 5 days this summer that they do not have a game...one of them is tomorrow night and the other 4 days are travel days. I will be out of town the month of July, we go to northern Ohio for a tournament over the 4th of July, then to South Carolina that following weekend and then to Tennessee for 2.5 weeks ending July 25th. Then beginning the first week of August football season gets rolling and I will be at practice or coaching activity from 6:30 am until 7:00 or so PM. 6 days a week. Not to mention you still have to throw basketball camps, shootouts, and scrimmages in there, and football weightlifting, conditioning and passing camps. Plus working on my masters degree. Then in late August school starts again and from there to the end of football season I have zero time to do anything other than football. Now once football season is over (thanksgiving weekend)...then I'm bored again The problem with the baseball is because he plays on a highly competitive 18 and under team they play at all kinds of different times. It's nothing for them to have a double header starting at 11:00 am on a tuesday Even their normal league is severe travel. Pick up a map...we play in a I-70 league and a I-71 league. They will have a double header in Cleveland on tuesday then a double header in Richmond, Indiana on Wednesday....it's insane. He was asked to play on a team that travels the country. They leave June 10th and don't come back until August 3rd He turned them down because he had already made a commitment to this team this summer...but barring an injury I think he's going to play with them next summer (OH my poor wallet).

But you know, they are only this age once, he will eventually graduate and then I will have so much time on my hands I won't know what to do...probably get to know my wife again
