Strange experience with SimplyDivx / Mencoder

Was trying out SimplyDivx last night. Got it downloaded and configured and all that. Decided to try the Rambo DVD Trailers for fun. Ran it, and went to sleep (it was like 3 AM). It was set to XVID, 2-pass.

Woke up, tried it this morning... Nothing. BSplayer says video stream type unknown XVID. Heh?

Tried GSpot... It sees the FourCC as XVID, but DShow rendering test failed. (Audio's decoded just fine).

I tried confuring FFDShow to take over, didn't help at all.

I tried reinstalling XVID binaries, didn't help at all.

Yet my other XVID files plays fine.

I chalk it up to Mencoder failure, somehow... What do you guys think?

I'm trying to re-encode the whole thing now.

Tried another encode, didn't work. GSpot says it's XVID, but DirectShow refuse to render it. VLC will display it, and says its XVID. It ried using FOurCC Changer to change the AVI's FourCC to DIVX or MP43, no go. it's simply not working. I'm going back to VDubMod.

mencoder works fine here for XviD encoding. Using directly though, no GUI's.
