Problems with converting Microsoft Photo Story into DVD

Hello,
I created a WMV file using Microsoft Photo Story (a slide show)
The WMV file was converted into DVD-compatible MPEG using TMPGEnc 3.0 Express.
The MPEG files plays nicely.

However, when integrating the file into a DVD using TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6, the result is of awful quality.

Interestingly, I also tried loading the MPEG file using Pinnacle studio, and was surprised to see that also within Pinnacle Studio the MPEG file plays with a very low quality.
Once again, when I play the MPEG file directly (using Media Player) it plays with very high quality.

Any advice regarding this will be greatly appreciated.
