I bought this JVC XV-N322S from Dubai airport and was told it would be region free and compatible in the USA (region, voltage, NTSC etc).
It turns out the screen scrolls continuously (vertically) when I turn it on and everything is black and white. I could play with the menu if I could get it to stop scrolling. Also, I have a feeling it won't play Region 1 DVDs.
I would greatly appreciate any help with the scrolling, color and region issues. Thanks.

That more sounds like a PAL/NTSC issue than a region protection code issue...

The manuals claim that the player supports PAL/NTSC/Muti (both I am assuming). Unfortunately I can't get the screen to stop scrolling to change the settings. I played with the I/P button with no result.

Even if the player handles all kinds of TV system DVDs (like most PAL players do), it probably converts the output to one, PAL in your case. So, you need a multi system TV too.
