Hi, I'm a new member to these forums but have learnt quite a lot here in recent months and I'm hoping you can help me.

I recorded a 5-6min file on TwinhanDTV from television that I would like to compress and send to a friend or burn to a cd.

The problem is that its a 615,000kb MPEG file and the only program that even plays it properly is TwinhanDTV.

Everything else distorts sound, picture or both. I have tried 3 or 4 programs to compress it and whilst some will work and some won't, none have given complete success - there is either no sound, the sound is out of time and warped, or the picture is distorted or all of the above.

Please help! I have tried so many programs. Its footage of some sharks for a shark nut friend of mine in the USA.

    Thanks in advance.

    Chelle

then convert to divx, xvid, etc with virtualdubmpeg2 or tell us what format you would like.

Unfortunately it was about a month or so ago and when these trial programs I dloaded didnt do the job I uninstalled them. In many cases the program would just stall I guess because of the file size

I know I tried the MS option, Windows Media Encoder, but I'm sorry I can't tell you what I DID try. I am sure I didnt try any of the ones you listed, so thank you, i'll try look into those.

I dont mind what format, but I'm just hoping to reduce it to something around 60 megs or better.
