hi all. i've been searching the internet and can't seem to find any online dvd retailers in the US that carry a decent selection of non-region 1 discs. i've checked hkflix.com but they mostly carry asian cinema. does anyone know of any online dvd retailers in the US that carry R2 european titles (french, british, etc)? any help would be appreciated.

amazon is a bit patchy. either sellers through amazon.com try and extort you with outrageous prices or amazon.co.uk sellers won't ship to US addresses. my only source at the moment is ebay and that's a bit of a crapshoot too. i'm even willing to order from online sites in the UK provided they'll actually make deliveries to the US.

I have bought imports from here a few times, always had my set's within 3 days tops!! and they only charged me $5.00 for priority mail even for 4 disc box set's. and acouple of the set's i got cheaper with shipping than what the retailers/sellers overseas want for just the set's i bought.
    They are in the U.S.

Would it not be easier to just buy a $30 region-free player like CYBERHOME?

I'm able to order US DVDS (as well as UK ones) from them, so i presume you can order Region 2 DVDs from them.

Well, seeing as his "Location" is listed as Unites States & he is not asking HOW to play other than region 1 dvd's and asking where to buy region's other than region 1, i'm guessing he just want's other than region 1 dvd's, to watch, not HOW to play them 8)

They all ship to the USA. I've used each of these at least once.

For the UK and AU sites, already in English.
For the Japanese and Chinese sites, use Babelfish to help you.
For the Spanish site, me hablo español. Or use Babelfish.

I live in Seattle so I can go to the International District/Chinatown to get Asian dvds.

But, the one that has everything is Scarecrow. Scarecrow is what even would be like, if it was a video store in Seattle.

This information doesn't help the topic starter, but he has had enough good advice.

I am just telling him what I do.

you are correct. I own a philips dvp 642 so I'm just gonna hack it so I can buy and play non-region 1 discs. I order from plenty of US online retailers such as hkflix.com, dvdempire.com, dvdplanet.com, etc, etc., but hkflix.com seems to be one of the few US online retailers that sell foreign titles. however, they charge you an arm and a leg for titles (around $50 for certain films). naturally, i'm not going to spend that kind of money on 1 dvd so it's cheaper for me to order directly from overseas. I've just purchased a R2 copy of La Haine on ebay for $22 and I have looked into Play.com but their list of deliverable countries only lists European countries, it makes no mention of other territories such as the US.

why am I looking so hard for a place that sells R2 discs? primarily because quite a few of the R1 discs on my wishlist are currently out of print and fetching large amounts of money on ebay which I refuse to pay. so, it makes more sense for me to hack my dvd player and seek out R2 copies of the same film that are still and print and being sold at a reasonable price.
