Walmart has discontinued carrying it (they now carry the much lesser-featured 231/233). I see Staples and Bestbuy carry it but charge $50+ more than what Walmart charged ($180-200). Any leads on a Walmart-priced model, besides Ebay?

  2. eBay is going to be about it at this point. Those are last year's models and are discontinued.

If you are interested in new entry level priced DVD recorders, have a look at the Toshiba D-R4... or the Panasonic DMR-ES20 if you want a DV input and switchable noise reduction on the analog video inputs.

I had problems with those recorders, so I'm looking to try Pioneer and maybe the JVC 100.

Best Buy, Costco, Wal-Mart ... all had them.

Some stores carry discontined items for many months, sometimes years. The local Walmart near me still has certain Apex recorders/players, and those were discontinued almost 2 years ago.

Rural area stores are generally better about this than stores in urban areas (LA, New York, Miami, etc). Then again, I live in a huge metro area, and my store has old stock for certain items.

HOWEVER, as that last post stated, the JVC DR-M100S would be a better option anyway, and can be found in the $200 range at online stores, maybe a little more for walk-in stores.
