Boy, if it ain't on thing it's another...
I've been successful in taking .VOB files from my DV recorder (via disc) through Toast 7.0.2 and extracting QuickTiem movies.
Now I'm trying to do the same thing with a short clip from a commercial DVD I own, and can't quite get it to work.
I've used MTR to rip/copy the contents of the DVD to my hard drive. The problem is I can't get Toast to accept the VIDEO_TS folder...at least not to export the chapter i want.
It appears that It'll let me burn a disc (I haven't tried this yet to confirm it), but that's not what I'm looking to do: I just want to export one chapter as a quicktime movie.
Any tips on how to get it to do that? Thanks.

Drag the ripped VIDEO_TS folder to the desktop. Click the Toast Media button to enter the Media Browser. Choose DVD with the top button. Your ripped VIDEO_TS will appear in the lower window. Go down a level with the lower button, select the title(s) you want and drag it to the Toast Video window. After Toast extracts the MPEG you can select the title in the Video window and click export.

Thanks. I've done that (many times today).
I've dragged the ripped VIDEO_TS folder to the desktop.
I've clicked the Toast Media button to enter the Media Browser.
I've chosen DVD with the top button.
My ripped VIDEO_TS does appear in the lower window.
I've gone down a level with the lower button.
I've selected the title I want and dragged it to the Toast Video window...
But that's where I can't seem to get any further.
In the main Toast window, there's a large folder icon; next to it it says:
Read From: Desktop
Below that, there's a "select" button (if I click it, the dialog points to the VIDEO_TS folder, I click on "Choose" and I get returned to the same Toast window).
Below the "Select" button it says:
"Copy Summary: Video: All (1 movie and 1 extra, 1:54:07); Audio: All (Dolby 2.0); languages: All (English)."
Below that, there's a dimmed (disabled) button labeled "Copy Options...".
I don't see any way to get Toast to spit out the exported chapter.
I've tried double-clicking, option-clicking, etc. - there's no obvious control to get it to export the selected clip. The big red "record" button is there, but I don't want to burn this to disc, I want to export a quicktime movie.
Any ideas? Thanks.
