  1. I encoded a dvd and added subtitles from a .srt file.
I burned the Video ts folder via toast.
it's very strange but when I play the disc on my g4 and apple dvd player, the subtitles show up but when I play it on my set top player, they don't show up i click the subtitles button.

is there any possible reason for this?

  2. Do they show up in VLC?

  3. I found out what the problem is. The subtitles are there but they are not showing up because their position is off the TV screen.
(I know this because there's one instance where there are a lot of lines of subtitles and they showed up and I could see where it cut off and compared their postitions while watching on the computer).
Their positions even seem different relative to the picture.

I don't think there are controls on my DVD player to control position of subtitles?
I saw a field on the subtitles area of the options tab labeled "pos" but it was greyed out so it doesn't seem I can change the postition that way.

Does anyone have any tips or any idea what I did wrong?

  4. If you burn the subtitles then you can define their position with the "Pos" field. If you use selectable subtitles, you should add black bars on the bottom so as there is more room for them.
