    I have a Lacie firewire d2 burner which for the most part is working fine but it has just started giving the following error message - This disc connot be used because it is not regognized. Yet just after displaying the error message it begins burning and completes the burn/
    A picture is worth a thousand words, but a good camera is worth about a thousand bucks.

    I get a similar spurious message sometimes at the start of
    a burn, and I have an Apple branded Superdrive.

    I just shrug it off. Doesn't seem to hurt anything except it's
    a bother to clear the message.

    perhaps its being fickle about your type/brand of media?

    I would sometimes get this with Sony CD-Rs that my Samsung 52x burner didn't like, I switched to other brands
    of CD-R, and the problem went away.
