  1. Quick ?,
Trying to make a bacup of Brothers Grimm, and I am getting an error, which I have never come across, "Out of Memory"... I used DVDFAb to burn to my hard drive, DVD Free to Clean, DVD Shrink to Shrink, and during the encoding stage @ 38%, it errors???? Any help, My kids aren't to gentle with my dvds, so I always give them a backup, vs ruining my originals...

  2. Use VOBblanker to examine the dead cells and remove them. You should then be able to shrink it.

I noticed something that seems very odd. If you open DVD Shrink in re-author mode from the disk the main movie appears normally. If you rip to your HD,using DVD Decrypter 3.54,and open in reauthor mode the main movie does not appear.

  4. How do you determine a dead cell with VobBlanker?

I believe that it is Ripguard. You can use PGCEdit and the Arccos Plugin with DVDD to rip this. There is a guide here. Use the Plugin Wizard and it should work fine.

Come on you guys, I just riped the movie only with ANYDVD 5.6.3.1 and Shrink. No need for anything else. Haven't come accross ANY movie new or old that I have not been able to rip and back up so far. The key has always been the latest ANYDVD. Best tool I've come accross.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

I clicked on my DvD Fab Decrypter and it updated to 2.9.6.5

I just backed up the entire disc to a DVD-RW at 50.4% compression with DVD Shrink. Update your Fab decrypter.

  9. I also used DVD Fab Decrypter 2.9.6.5 and had the 'out of memory' error with DVD Shrink. I used VobBlanker and just let it process the files (I didn't change/delete anything manually) and this fixed it so DVD Shrink worked.

  12. I backed it up yesterday. Tried shrink/anydvd the 1st time and got the same error at 38%. Used anydvd with dvdfabdecryptor, and clonedvd2 worked like a charm.

Edit: On a side note, I made 2 coasters yesterday while trying to backup new titles. One on Emily Rose and the other on Brothers Grimm. Ripped them to my HD with dvdfabdecryptor, and tried to compress/burn with Shrink. Is this a function of the new copy protection?

DVDFab decrypyter is a stripped down program that only offers full movie. If you want more than that, you have to buy the full blown DVDFab Express

  19. I had problems with both these movies too. With Emily Rose, I could not rip with my DVD-ROM (generic brand), it failed at 3.6 gig, even with DVDFABdecrypter. I ended up using my Pioneer A06 to rip at 2X and it worked. I used Nero Recode with no problems.

With the Brothers Grimm I also had a strange error with Shrink DVD 3.2. I tried nero recode for movie only and it worked great.

I'm guessing with Emily Rose there may be some mastering problems that the Pioneer is able to read...but not sure about Brothers Grimm...

I don't know why there is so much trouble making a copy, I used DVD Shrink and made a perfect back up. I used Fuji 4x & work perfectly. I really don't like the movie because it suck, but I brought for the kids. Take your time & burn Slow.

  24. from your problems look like your drive is throwing in errors and they end up like a blank part of the movie. That is another reason you get out of memory. if you have other dvd drive use the other one. or make you drive slower.
