    How do i stop the 'Automatic Update' pop up balloon from ever coming up on here again?

    If you're referring to the pop-up when you mouseover a topic title or other link you need to disable javascript in your browser.

    Tha will also remove other features that require JS on this site and probably just about every other site you visit.

    I guess you are refering to the Windows Update popup that comes up in Windows XP.

    You can switch it off by either setting up automatic updates to work in the background or disabling automatic updates.

    Go to Control Panel, select the Security Center and open it, and in the form that comes up, click on Automatic Updates under "Manager security Settings for:"

    A new form comes up, which has the option to have Automatic Settings (This option automatically downloads and installs updates), or Turn OFF which won't ever ask you about updates.

    The automatic settings, typically download and install updates and won't ask you to reboot. They wait until you shut down the PC to implement the updates.
    The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.
