I made "linking" text on the main menu of a menu I made in this program. I don't have a problem getting the text to generate when it's plays on the computer, but I can't it to work in my dvd player. Could I have done something wrong, or it burnt wrong?

Before I make a guess, have you had success doing this in the past? Have you had success with buttons?

Your error does not make sense.

The only time I've seen something like that is when a menu VOB is played in a software video player (not a software DVD player).

Ulead is great software. Unfortunately not all players like discs authored by Ulead. I'll bet your disc will work fine in a different player. Just for kicks, try a different brand of disc, too. Preferably one that is marked "Made in Japan."

I didn't actually get an "error" though when I put in my standalone dvd player. I just wasn't sure how to "select" the text. Does that make sense? I'm going to try another brand of dvd and see what happens. If not I'll keep trying till I get it right :P

Also, you might want to try TDA. It's much simpler than WS2, but it produces discs that are highly compatible with a variety of drives/players, IMO.

This is from personal experience using a variety of discs. Using other discs (from the same package) I've had fewer compatability issues when using TDA. (All discs were error checked with DVDInfopro.) I still love WS2, and intend to continue using it.

I was using a Sony DVD+R by the way, if you were wondering.

EDIT: I got it to work and found what I did, and it's actually pretty hilarious, well, for me . When I made the text on the menu I made the highlight color the same (in this case, white). So when the dvd was inserted I couldn't tell if I was clicking on the text or not.

I'm glad I found out what I did though

I've personally had a lot of TDA compliancy issues, and have read many, many reports from others. So I tell people to not use TDA burning. In fact, I don't use DVDWS2 burning either.

Just use authorware to author a disc. Burn it in something else made for burning, if you can.

hey, guys, read above I edited my post. Btw, not trying to get off topic to much, but, what is the normal size for a dvd background (menu)? I have mine at 720x534, but it looks kinda large on my tv screen and the picture was cut off just a bit on the left.

I need to get some dvd-rw, I'm wasting blanks trying new things

For a 4:6 menu it should be W=768 H=576. For a 16:9 menu I believe it was W=1024 H=576. Also the resolution should be set to 72dpi for both type od aspect ratios.

4:3 menu should always be 720x540 in NTSC
Let the authorware resize the menu itself.

If you give it 720x480, it upsized to 720x540 then back down again to 720x480 and can get quite ugly.

Menus are almost always going to be 720x480 in NTSC
