I am trying to burn video files and it is taking 3hrs with nero to burn them. Is there anything i can do to speed this process up.

    Any additional Programs i need?

    Thanks

I think this includes the time to transcode as well

It's not just burning, it's converting as well (apparently). Nero is a poor quality video encoder, not many people here would recommend it for anything other than burning. As for speeding it up, I don't think you can other than trying a different program.

What type of file(s) is/are your source ?

The way to speed Nero up is to feed it a DVD-compliant, authored VIDEO_TS folder.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    I believe mpeg and avi

All of the files say video clip? The compression is xvid

I made an authored dvd folder for nero and the burn speed is increased but it takes about 2 to 3hrs to make one of those

With the exception of players that can play Divx/Xvid or raw MPEG, if you want it playable on a settop DVD player then your videos must be converted to DVD, VCD or SVCD-compliant video. This normally entails (re)encoding using an MPEG encoder.

BTW, if it takes you 2 to 3 hours from go to finished, burned, ready-to-play product, that's pretty comparable in the video world
    If in doubt, Google it.

As far as burning goes, Nero is very good IMO. Nero seems to work either really well or really crap for most people. Another option is to use Folder2ISO or IMGTools Classic to create an ISO file and then use DVDDecrypter or its "replacement" IMGBurn to burn the ISO file. YMMV.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  9. If you want speed then NeoDVD is the program for you. Not a lot of fancy stuff but simple to use and lighting fast conversion to DVD compliant files and it will even do the burn for you.
