I have a friend of mine who bought 2 by mistake. and he willing to sell me one brand new in box for like 65 dollars. i currently have a 510 this ones still made by sony think, and it works great. Will i get a boost in preformace and nothing else by upgrading, cause it reads good and burns great. no coasters.

  2. Yes, its worth it. I have the 810UL and love it. Burns faster and IMO better built than previous units.

    Sony's 810 model I believe is a rebadged BENQ 1640 drive. You can purchase a BENQ 1640 for like $40-$50.

    Yeah, but you don't get the box with the Sony name on it. You also might miss out on some cool Sony rootkit software.

    $65 isn't a bad price for an 800 or an 810. Sony has a pretty good lineup for their burners. One thing I noted upon opening the box was the lack of an IDE cable. For a retail package that's almost unheard of but since I have them it wasn't a big deal. It's also a quiet burner.
