  1. After many attempts at joining 2 movie files I have for a school project into one, I am wondering if it would be easier to just encode both AVIs (which are at different resolutions) onto the same DVD.

My question is, how can this be done? I want the second encoded AVI to play immediately after the first one. I use VSO DivX to DVD, and it creates the VIDEO_TS folder, and I can do this for both AVIs, but how do I put them on the same DVD if the file names are the same?

Note: I don't have advanced software such as TMPGenc, have VSO and DVD Shrink to encode, and then burn with Nero.

    Thanks in advance...

When you load the videos into DivxtoDVD, use the shift key to select both video (int he reverse order to how you want them to play) and you will get both video on the one disk, and they will play through in order.

Otherwise, do each in DivxtoDVD (either together or seperately), then use the 30 day demo of TDA to add the videos to the same track. They will then play back as a single title.

That "reverse order" trick is only required in the freeware version. The payware version does it properly and lets you chop n change the order however you see fit.

From where you are ATM with two VIDEO_TS folders, you can go straight to TMPGEnc DVD Author and it will sort the duplicate filenames out for you. Add both titles to the same track using the Add DVD Video button.

If starting from scratch, convert each AVI seperately using http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/AVI2DVD.htm , taking notice of the tip regarding multiple files when using the bitrate calculator. Then use any authoring software (TDA is quite capable of this job) to add the files to the same track, and remove the chapter point at the stat of the 2nd file for seamless playback at the join.
    If in doubt, Google it.
