I'm sure this is the most difficult time iv'e ever had for something that's easyer to do.
I'm not new to this forum, i have spent almost 3 days without sleep
and yes i have done numerus searches here, maybe too many.

Problem: i have videos downloaded from the web and old vhs tapes and other videos from different sources, all i want to do is have a very basic table of contents and various videos with chapters.
This forum has so much info that im now more confused that when i started on this, so i'm lost.

Can somebody please help me with this in a straight start to finish fashion?

I have a Mac G4 sawtooth using osx 10.3.9 i have a lot of software too numerus to list.
I'm sorry for this post becuse i'm sure i'm not the only one to have problems like this, like i said, days of searching this forum and clicked on a lot of links within this forum i feel i should be an expert by now.

Sorry for the long post, i just wanted to get in all the facts.

Please explain more about the chapters you want to create. Is it okay if the chapters are in time intervals, such as every 5 minutes or do you want to place them at specific points? Is it okay that there is no menu displaying the chapters?

Do you have Toast 7? What version of iMovie and iDVD do you have? Do you have CaptyDVD?

I have Toast 7 and do know that it create chapters every 5 min. Right now thats ok for now.I have imovie HD 5.0.2, idvd 3.0. I have never heard of CaptyDVD.
I would like to have a TOC to go back to so you can pick which video to wstch, some are long and most are short as 4 to 5 min. in length, so you see i need a TOC. Right now i don't need menus, but i do want to be able to go to the TOC at any time. I know Toast 7 will create chapters every 5 min. i guess i don't know what to use to convert the various vids, so i wind up with Video_ts folders for each video. here is a list of what software titles i have:

Will have to dig out a copy of 1.5, it's been a LONG WHILE
since I used it, and I know things changed between 1.5 and version 3.02.

will get back to you though...

    Hi Terry

I have been fooling around with DVDSP and got a basic understanding on it's use but i'm getting more confused on the diffeent codecs and formats.

I have been fooling around with toast and have been able to make 2 or 3 very basic but playable DVD's on my stand alone dvd player, Panasonic RV-65 no probs with syncing and a surprisingly very good pic quality, i will need to have some basic buttons and menus.

i hope to hear from you soon

    Thanks
