    hello ladies and gents.
So, I just picked up my copy of madagascar. Yes, its quite sad, not only did I buy a kids movie when I dont have kids, but worse, I think I'm going to like it. All kidding aside, I've encountered a bit of a problem...

I can rip it to HD with dvddecrypter, but an interesting thing happens when I try to open it with shrink... tells me theres a problem with VTS_08_1.
So, a little shocked I moved on to another program - dvdfabdecrypter
it wound up 'hanging' at the same file - VTS_08_1 .

now I'm rather frustrated, and although I will endeavour to find my solution... I am not too proud to turn to the wonderfully resourceful, and knowledgable people in the community here.
    so boys and girls... ideas?
    anyone?

  2. Don't feel so bad.... I've encountered the same thing on Ducktales Vol1. I received the same error, but with the 1st Title Set. Shrink and DVdfabdecrypter both were unable to process it. I used DVD2One V2 and it worked beautifully. So that's what I've been using. I had tried the DVD2One V1 versions, and none of those had worked on it either, so I stuck with my V2 copy.

I figured it had to do with the whole Dummy Sectors issue. I didn't spend a whole heck of a lot of time researching it since I was happy with my workaround for this issue.

Not sure if this helps much, but, I figured I'd pass it along

    Good Luck

Sounds like a damaged disc. Return it to the store where you purchased it and they should replace it with another one.

If you don't have any kids are you really in fear of the disc being destroyed before you get your fill of it's contents?

I personally dont have kid, no.
I do however have a large extended family - the wife's brothers, our combined cousins. And they will ask to borrow it. repeatedly. the same thing happened with 'nemo. what I tend to do is leave the dvd's on the shelf, and I have a few binders full of my backups. want to watch a movie? borrow? Then look for it in the binder. you know?
everything's organized alphanumerically both on the shelf, and in the binders, so theres no trouble finding it.

thanks for the suggestion re: dvd2one, I'm trying it out now as I enter this reply. I'll be sure to post the result.

Madagascar Region 1 (both the widescreen and the fullscreen versions) have a new "revision" on the Sony ARccOS copy protection scheme.

I believe you will need to look around for a special .PSL file to import into DVDDecrypter in order to allow DVDDecrypter to rip this properly, and even then you may have to do some minor "clean-up" after ripping, in order to get everything, if that is your goal.

I suggest you pay a visit to another forum (if it is not against the rules to suggest this).

Do a search, and see if you can find the "Digital Video Forums."

Edit: Warning -- that forum seems to be experiencing some technical difficulties as I write this... slow as molasses, and sometimes cannot even open. Keep trying, if necessary...

    flawlessly.

  8. That's awesome to hear that DVD2One has been working for ya. I know for me, I looked all around for a ducktales psl file for dvddecrypter, but could find nothing of the sort.

Like I said, glad this is working out for you folks...

    Take care

  9. I had AnyDVD running, then used VobBlanker to rip to hard drive. Worked great!

  10. Hey all...I'm new to the forum.
    I had the same problem.
Took me 3 hours of different combinations of software but I found that the new version of Anydvd 5511 and CloneDVD2 worked for me.

    Hope that helps anyone.

Hope to be some help to people in the future.
    Ciao for now.

  11. You can rip it with the latest version of DVDecrypter (old, I know) with aggressive removal of structure protection. Then use the latest version of CloneDVD2 to either transcode or just process everything into a new directory. It will fix the files.

Alternatively you can use the latest version of AnyDVD.

Or you can use JUST the latest version of DVDFab Decrypter by itself and be done in a few minutes...

I guess that's why Baldrick made that thread a big font sticky at the top . Hopefully the Madagascar threads won't be popping up that much in the future now it's been updated
