  1. hey i just have starting to use the EP mode on my supervhs vcr and the quality is excellent to say the least with a decent tape of course..

i just wanna know the resolution its recording at and i can tell its way way better than standard vhs's SP mode..but not quite as sharp as supervhs's SP mode..

also i just thought i should mention the picture quality does NOT look very good when using standard SVHS tapes like the JVC SV series..or the fujis pro svhs tapes..

i am using jvc's DVHS tape the DF300 tape and the picture quality does NOT look anything like the standard svhs lineup which is $2 cheaper than what i pay for my dvhs tapes..

i personally think these dvhs tapes kick major ass when using them as svhs tapes i can only imagine the quality i would be getting if i had a dvhs deck..

i am sold now for dvhs tapes these tapes are the only tapes ive seen so far that show what SVHS is truly capable of..

  2. Why are you still using tape?

  3. cause i have a few dvd's that were recorded with my ILO dvd recorder even though their very good media the damn things get scratched way to easily and half of them rarely play now..

i just wish i had a digital vhs deck that beats the crap out of any dvd recorder thats out now..

i would have around 5 hours of six times that of dvd quality video if had a dvhs deck..

tape is going to be around for along time to come especially when you get a high definition vcr for $300 brand new that has nearly unlimited recording capabilities..

i mean 20+ hours on a dvhs tape in SD format i would love to see a dvd recorder even attempt that feat..

The resolution is the same on EP and SP, more or less, it's just that SP has less grain, which can give a perceived resolution difference.

It's about 400-500x480 equivalent in digital terms.

With EP grain included in the equation, you'd make great 352x480 MPEG-2 interlaced DVDs. The SP you may want to bump to 704/720x480.
