According to the Manual I downloaded for this machine, it won't played DVD's that were made on a computer in UDF format. This is the format that most of us use in TOAST to make a copy of a DVD we own for backup purposes. Has anyone tried playing any type of copied discs or homemade DVDs from the computer on this machine? If it can't play back material I create on the computer that plays just fine on every other player, this is definitely a fatal flaw. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

  2. I am not familiar with Toast, but UDF 1.02 is the standard format for dvd-video. Pioneer is just not being specific enough about which UDF format it will not play and there are many as you can see from this link,

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Disk_Format

The packet writing ones are used primarily for data back up not video. It allows amongst other features, the use of drag and drop so a dvd disk looks like a floppy.

If your computer created disk has information like this,

    it should be ok.

I have a Pioneer DVR-510H-S and play Toast-authored DVDs on it all the time. The same should be true for the 533.
