    Hi,

I am new to this great forum and have looked for an answer but can't see one (probably because i don't know where to look!).

I have been given a home movie that was filmed on a DV camcorder and burned to DVD. I would like to change a few things using Pinnacle Studio. The thing is it wants to capture footage. I have edited things using Pinnacle before that was on my hard drive but how do i go about "mounting" the DVD to the hard drive to edit?

    Thanks for looking.

Just create a directory on your HD that can hold approximately 4.7GB and drag and drop the files over to that directory from the DVD VIDEO_TS folder. From there, you will need to demux the video and audio to elementry streams to be able to edit. I don't know what format that Pinnacle is looking for, but most probably it is looking for an .AVI file. I would frameserve an psuedo-AVI file to PS if it will take it.

Hi and welcome! Please try use a subject that describes your topic. You can edit the subject by click on the edit-button on your post.

You can try vob2mpg and import the mpg in pinnacle.
If it wont work try some other editor that supports mpeg2 editing, https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?guideid=638&howtoselect=3;6#638
Or open the vobs in virtualdub-mpeg2 and convert to dv-avi,huffyuv avi and import in pinnacle studio (or frameserve from virtualdub-mpeg2)
